Wild SUP Yoga on The River: Flow, Breathe, Connect

SUP Yoga on the River: Flow, Breathe, Connect

New to paddleboarding? New to yoga? No problem!

Our SUP Yoga sessions are designed for everyone—whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro. These classes offer a chance to explore something new, challenge yourself, or simply soak up a serene experience. Picture yourself floating gently on the water, with the soothing sights, sounds, and scents of nature all around you.

Why SUP Yoga?

SUP Yoga isn’t just yoga—it’s a unique journey that blends movement, mindfulness, and a splash of adventure. The water adds a gentle challenge, sharpening your focus and helping you stay present in the moment. And when you’re fully present, amazing things can happen—like discovering just how much you’re capable of.

Whether you're looking to stretch, strengthen, laugh, or unwind, SUP Yoga offers the perfect opportunity to:

  • Embrace a playful approach to your practice.
  • Reconnect with nature in the most peaceful of settings.
  • Rest, breathe, and simply be.

No matter your experience or ability, there’s always space to go at your own pace, try something new, or just lie back and let the river carry your stress away.

Meet Your SUP Yoga Guide

Alex is not only a qualified yoga teacher and SUP instructor but also a fully certified ASI SUP Yoga Instructor—one of the few in the UK with this specialised certification! With her warm, supportive approach, Alex creates a safe and inspiring space for everyone, whether you’re new to the water, yoga, or both. Oh, and did we mention she’s also an STA Level 2 Open Water Swim Coach? You couldn’t be in better hands.

What to Expect

  • Welcome & Orientation: Meet at Arden Sailing Club, where you’ll have time to settle in, change, and chat through any questions or concerns.
  • Safety First: A 15–20 minute land-based briefing to cover the basics of paddleboarding and water safety.
  • A Gentle Paddle: Drift downstream on your board—whether kneeling or standing—with no prior SUP experience required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.
  • Anchored in Flow: Secure your board and paddle before we guide you through a 45-minute yoga sequence. Expect clear instructions, demos, and plenty of options to tailor the session to your comfort level. End with a blissful floating shavasana—lying back, connecting with the rhythm of the water and the sounds of nature.
  • Optional Fun: Wrap up with the chance to try anything you missed, take photos, or even go for a swim with your board (with Alex on hand to ensure your safety).
  • Post-Session Wind-Down: Head back to the clubhouse for a refreshing shower or change before heading home with a discount voucher for more SUP adventures!

Additional Information

1COVID19 Secure Audited
All our sessions will be socially distanced, hygienic and will adhere to government guidelines as these evolve over time as well as meeting our own internal COVID19 risk assessment standards. We are ASI COVID19 Secure Audited.
2On-site facilities
Wittering SUP & Yoga HQ is based at Arden Sailing Club where we have toilets, changing rooms, light refreshments, picnic tables and secure parking onsite.
3What should you wear?
You will need to dress for the weather in light quick drying gym wear or your swimming costume (speedos are fine gents) On cooler days a wetsuit is optional (we do not provide them) but they can be restrictive. Personally I prefer layers of light tight fitting gym wear that will dry quickly. There is of course a possibility of falling in, so bring a towel and a change of clothes, something warm to put on afterwards just in case. A bottle of water, suncream and perhaps a hat for a hot day. If the weather is looking a little wet bring a light rain coat (pac-a-mac). SUP yoga in the rain is MAGICAL but maybe not if you are feeling chilly!
4Feeling a little unsure?
New skills outside of our comfort zone can always seem a little daunting, but we are always SO much more capable than we think we are. We are passionate about making sure everybody feels safe, confident and happy with their experience; our approach is gentle, supportive and compassionate and you have nothing to worry about; we’ll look after you :)
